Gambia: Lawyer backs ECOWAS to oust Jammeh

Mr Sabastine Hon (SAN), a constitutional lawyer, has expressed support that Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union (AU) should use force in The Gambia political logjam. ECOWAS and AU plan to force President Yahaya Jammeh of The Gambia out of office and install the President-elect, Adama Barrow. Hon, who supported the use of force decried the vexed political situation in The Gambia, noting that it had reached a situation that called for urgent action.

‘Buhari cannot stop me from becoming president,’ Ex-governor says

Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido has said that President Muhammadu Buhari can’t stop him from becoming president in 2019.Lamido made the comment after police officers stopped a rally in Bamaina village during which youth were urging him to contest in the next general elections.
“The desperation by those in authorities of power today must know that the same God that have made Balewa, Ironsi, Gowon, Murtala, Shagari, Buhari, Babangida and Jonathan Presidents could do the same for me if Allah so wishes,” Lamido told The Sun.

‘We’ll silence Tinubu in North-Central region,’ APC leaders vow

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State have vowed to silence the party’s national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the North-Central region of the country, Punch reports.
They also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to reject James Faleke if nominated as a replacement for the late Minister of State for Labour, James Ocholi, who died in an auto crash in March 2016.
Faleke is believed to be Tinubu’s stooge whom the national leader is planning to get appointed as Ocholi’s replacement.
